Low Budget Dating Tips

You don’t have to spend a fortune to have a great time on a date. In fact, many of my favorite dates over the years didn’t involve more than a few dollars, if any money at all. Whether you have just met the person you will be going out with or you’ve been married to them for fifty years, the purpose is the same. Dating is supposed to be fun, exciting, romantic, and time spent with someone special.

One of my favorite dates is to invite my boyfriend over for a cozy candlelight dinner, then spend the next couple of hours snuggling on the sofa in front of a classic movie. Throw in a little microwave popcorn and some drinks, and it’s better than the movie theater. There are no kids making noise and no one throwing popcorn, unless of course your date gets a little frisky. Best of all, you can be comfortable in the privacy of your own home. If you want to take a little bathroom break, then put the movie on pause. I also like to get up about half way through the movie and go for a moonlit walk with my honey. We’ll stay gone for about twenty minutes or so, just long enough to stretch our legs a little and enjoy some conversation. Then we’ll go back to our snuggle positions on the sofa and finish the movie.

Another of my favorite date night activities is to invite two or three other couples over to my house for snacks and board games. This is always a big hit with everyone. If money is a little tight, then ask everyone to bring a drink and finger food to share. If you want to make it into a little fun, then tell the ladies that you’re having a dessert baking contest and the men will be the judges. Just use your imagination and have fun.

You can go for a hike in the mountains or at a nearby state park. This will not only allow you to get a little exercise, but you can spend some quality time with your sweetie. This is another great opportunity to take along another couple or two. The more the merrier. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, then you might turn it into an overnight camping trip. There’s nothing more romantic than snuggling up with each other in front of a fire in the great outdoors. Sometimes it’s just nice to get away from all the city noise and chaos that is so much a part of our lives. I love to go camping with my boyfriend just so that we can relax and find a little peace.

If the weather is nice, then a swim at the local lake or beach is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. There’s any number of other activities you can enjoy on a date such as biking, dancing, skating, walking at the park, playing putt putt, or just having a quiet evening at home listening to music and talking about your dreams. When you plan your date, just keep in mind that the whole point is so that you can enjoy the other person’s company and have some quality time with them. Try to make it fun and go out every chance you get.
